A Busy painting

When I started the urban environment project, I traced Limerick city map, LSAD building plan and St. John's cathedral plan. Later on, I layered them together and traced them again. The result is visible here:







I didn't come back to the traicing until I became interested  in maps again and started cutting them, tearing, etc. Then, one day I thought about painting...... I haven't used oils for a while and in a way missed them! So i started the painting...... Busy one, full of colours one can find in maps, and based on the tracing I did long time ago. 






After watching the programme on Art 21 about Mary Heilmann, an American painter, I really liked the way she used canvas to give her paintings different approach. I decided to do the same with my painting, as the layout remined me of the crossing streets.....
